KL DUATHLON 2018 is brought to you by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) with co-organizer Kelab Sukan Kecergasan MyFit which will be held at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur on 25th November 2018 (Sunday). *detailed event itinerary will be updated soon

If you are new to duathlon challenge, this event fits you best to test your limit(s).

Please be informed that this sports event is a FUN type and NO RACE or such competition awarded. Format for this duathlon is RUN-BIKE only.

Only ONE category available which open to all who aged 15 years old and above.

There is no relay and only single participant (same person) is allowed to participate and must perform both running (5KM) and cycling (26KM). You may refer both routes in RUNNING INFO and CYCLING INFO.

Types of bicycle allowed are time trial bike, road bike, mountain bike, fat bike and folding bike only.

There will be a well-guarded Transition Area provided for you (participant) to put your helmet, bike, shoe, etc.

Don't forget to register and set yourself up with the right gear!

GENERAL

  1. KL DUATHLON 2018 is organised by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) with co-organizer Kelab Sukan Kecergasan MyFit in accordance with these Rules & Regulations (R&Rs) and Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) that is applicable to the participants.
  2. Please be acknowledged that KL DUATHLON 2018 is a sports event of fun type and no race or such competition awarded. However, all these R&Rs and/or T&Cs must be followed accordingly due to prevent any potential hazards and unforeseen circumstances in the running of the event. Format for this duathlon is run-bike only. Only 1 category available which open to all who aged 15 years old and above, whomsoever under the age of 18 must acquire parental consent prior to their participation. There is no relay and only single participant (same person) is allowed to participate and must perform both running (5KM) and cycling (26KM). Both routes can be found in Running Info and Cycling Info respectively.
  3. The organizers reserve the right to modify or amend any of these R&Rs and/or T&Cs of the event from time to time as they deem fit without prior notification. Any changes to these R&Rs and/or T&Cs will be updated on the official website www.klduathlon.com and it is the participant’s responsibility to be alert with such changes.
  4. By completing the online registration form, the participant agrees to abide by the R&Rs and/or T&Cs of this event. These R&Rs and/or T&Cs shall be in force before and during the event and applies to all rulings by the organizers.
  5. Participants must complete an official entry form in the online registration details with accurate, updated and current information. The organizers reserve the right to bar or disqualify participant’s registration from the event with no refund should any inaccurate or incomplete information be found.
  6. Participants are strictly not allowed to transfer their entries to another party after their registrations are confirmed. The registration will only be confirmed upon complete full payment of registration fee and issuance of confirmation slip. Once registration has been duly processed, there will be no fee refund for participant who fail to turn up and/or withdraw from the event for whatever reasons.
  7. Participants must agree to receive contact from the organizers from time to time via email/sms. Any notice sent by organizers via email/sms to the supplied details on the registration form shall be deemed received by the participants.
  8. Participants must collect their race-kit on the designated collection day and time, details of which are on the venue stipulated. If participants are unable to collect their race-kit in person, another authorized person may do so for them. Late collection will not be entertained, and the organizers shall not be liable for any loss or inconvenience caused due to participants’ inability to collect their race-kit. It is sole responsibility of the participant to collect their race-kit during the collection period. Race-kit which not collected during the collection period will be deemed as unwanted, and the organizers have right to dispose or re-distribute them accordingly.
  9. Participants will be given:
  • Race-Kit Bag & Gift Items
  • Running Bib Number (must be worn at the front of apparel at all times)
  • Helmet Sticker (to be patched on the front side of helmet)
  • Bicycle Plate Number (to be placed under the seat post of bicycle)
  • Event Tee (sizing chart may be found in Event Info)
  • Finisher Medal (obtain right after finish both running and cycling routes)
  • E-Certificate (obtain from the website after event ended)
  1. Participants are strongly advised to go for a medical examination and/or consult their medical practitioner prior to registration and before the event. Participants must be certified fit to participate in this event. The organizers shall not be responsible for any accident or mishap which arises as a result of non-disclosure of medical conditions by the participants. Should any participant feel unwell in the course of run and/or ride, he/she should stop and seek immediate medical attention at designated medical posts.
  2. The organizers reserve the right to amend the event’s routes and/or cancel or postpone the event as they deem fit for the safety of the participant and/or to prevent any potential hazards in the running of the event, at any time without prior notice to the participant. In such cases, every effort will be made to inform the participant via email/sms prior to the date of the event. Any changes made will be posted on the event details. It is participant’s responsibility to keep abreast with those changes. The organizers shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused due to such changes.
  3. Participants must follow their respective running and cycling route, the direction of security officers/officials, traffic management officers/officials, event’s officers/officials and any enforcement officers/officials. All participants shall comply with the instructions of marshals and/or traffic officers.
  4. Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the organizers to ensure the participants’ safety, participants partake in this event at their own risk and the organizers shall not be responsible or held liable for any injury or death, damage or loss of property, whether personal or otherwise, suffered or caused, howsoever arising from training for, during participation, or after participation in the event.
  5. The organizers reserve the right to use any photographs (including those of participant), videos, motion pictures, recordings, or any other media records of the event, for any legitimate purpose including commercial advertising and distribution to the organizers.

 

RUNNING

  • All participants must wear their running bib number at the front of their adorned apparel and clearly visible at all times.
  • Bare torso is not allowed at all times.
  • All participants shall be ready and assembled at the Run Start Holding Area 15 minutes prior to the flag-off time.
  • All participants are responsible for their own knowledge and must run on the designated path for the entire route.
  • All participants shall comply with the instructions of marshals and/or traffic officers to ensure the safety and welfare of participants and no interruptions of unauthorised vehicles entering the route.
  • Headphones usage is strictly prohibited at all times for safety reason.

 

CYCLING

  • All participants are to bring their own helmet and bicycle as the organizers do not provide any.
  • All participants must wear helmets by the time they remove their bicycle from the rack in transition area to continue cycling route.
  • Bare torso is not allowed at all times.
  • All participants must ensure helmet sticker is patched on the front side of helmet and clearly visible at all times.
  • All participants must ensure bicycle plate number is located under the seat post of bicycle.
  • Types of bicycle allowed are time trial bike, road bike, mountain bike, fat bike and folding bike only. Other than this type is not allowed due to safety reasons.
  • All participants will have to perform their own repairs if their bicycles should breakdown.
  • It is the participants’ responsibility to ensure that all bicycles have gears and brakes in well-working condition.
  • Riding without helmet is totally not allowed.
  • Participants are to ride on the left side of the road unless overtaking and are reminded to observe traffic rules at all times.
  • All participants are responsible for their own knowledge and must ride on the designated path for the entire route.
  • All participants shall comply with the instructions of marshals and/or traffic officers to ensure the safety and welfare of participants and no interruptions of unauthorised vehicles entering the route.
  • Headphones usage is strictly prohibited at all times for safety reason.
  • Participants are required to keep their helmet fastened whilst on and off the bike until they have mounted their bike in transition area.

 

BICYCLE TRANSITION AREA

  • The Transition Area is only restricted for participants WITH bib/plate number and any unauthorized person(s) are not permitted.
  • The Transition Area will be opened at least 2 hours before the commencement of the event and participants shall place their essential items at the designated location marked by their bib/plate numbers in the Transition Area.
  • The Transition Area will be closed during the event and no other unauthorized person(s) will be allowed in the area until the event is over except for participants only.
  • The essential items are to be located according to the designated bib/plate numbers. Participants who are found to snitch another participant's belongings, will be disqualified immediately and no finisher medal awarded.
  • There is no cycling allowed in transition area.

 

CUT-OFF TIME

  • Route officials will divert participants who are unlikely to finish the run/ride within the stipulated duration. Such participants will be guided to the designated diversion points along the route. For their own safety and to avoid being caught in between live traffic, participants must follow instructions.
